Changing the theme did not help. The output of 'gdb sddm' follows:
Reading symbols from sddm...(no debugging symbols found)...done.
Missing separate debuginfos, use: zypper install
sddm-debuginfo-0.13.0-7.3.x86_64
(gdb) run
