We read the original ata_string by pass-through from the sd*-device. The scsi-stack truncates the longer ide-strings. The main question is why the installer uses the old ata-strings instead of the scsi-strings, which are the "real" id-links for the device? The ata-* stuff is only for old ide-drivers. And we no longer use these drivers, right?
