--- Comment #28 from Lukas Ocilka 2008-03-04 01:10:01 MST ---
It seems that /etc/services strikes back. SUSE has changed the content of that
file recently, Alpha1 contains:
--- /etc/services ---
..
swat 901/tcp # CONFLICT, not official assigned!
..
--- /etc/services ---
We have been discussing this internally and according to my information there
shouldn't have been problems. Only obsolete services should have been
dropped...
As a workaround, you can add the line mentioned above to your /etc/services
file or you can change your /etc/xinetd.d/swat configuration file and replace
"swat" with "smpnameres" -- that's the original port name assigned to port
number 901.
--- cut ---
# SWAT is the Samba Web Administration Tool.
service smpnameres
{
...
}
--- cut ---
This solution is only a workaround and I'd expect netcfg RPM to solve it for
SUSE. On the other hand, a logic solution for SWAT would be to ask IANA
organization for a port assignment.
* /etc/services belongs to netcfg.rpm
* /etc/xinetd.d/swat belongs to samba.rpm
Here are the currently assigned port names to port numbers:
