--- Comment #25 from Christoph Resch 2007-07-19 03:04:54 MST ---
i now use "deadline" as elevator (grub parameter) .. bovore was cfq
and so it shows up in /sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler .. i use this now elevator
since one day now and cannot give a good feedback , but what was not possible
to me a week ago ( starting a vmware ) now seems to work after a fashion ...
one thing i never had been sure was that amd64-distros generate so much swapped
pages , that i first thought about memory-leaking .. it is not easy to extract
this behavior .. while swapping pages = high disk access , the system show a
lot waiting CPU-cycles , for me its not clean why its waiting , since it doesnt
seem busy ..
since "deadline" i experience responsiveness even under load , but doenst
explain why there is so much swapped memory .. i have tried setting swappiness
to "20" , which gave me the feeling of a little ductile responsiveness .. not
as quick as i know it could be
about dups: i am pretty sure , while i watched some simirial bug-reports over
the years now, all these belong together.
i tried to bring more interrest in the novell-bugtracker , since i somewhat
refuse to switch back to i686 , but it seems the only why now under this
circumstances
