http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=562135 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=562135#c0 Summary: zypper in should show versions/repositories of packages to be installed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: aspiers@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Development Blocker: --- When your system is configured with multiple repositories (e.g. from the openSUSE Build Service), there could be multiple locations to obtain (different versions of) a single package. zypper search -s will show all the versions available, but zypper install does not say which version it has decided to install, e.g.: For example, -------------------------------------- zypper> in wine Resolving package dependencies... The following package is going to be upgraded: wine The following package is not supported by its vendor: wine Overall download size: 10.9 M. No additional space will be used or freed after the operation. Continue? [YES/no]: -------------------------------------- A partial workaround is to use install --dry-run which at least tells you the version, but: - it still does not tell you the repository it is downloading from, - if you are installing multiple packages with a single zypper command (e.g. as a result of dependencies), you may have to wait for another (potentially big) package to download before you reach the dry run of the package you want to know the version of, and - if it is not the exact package you want, you can only interrupt via ^C which completely kills zypper. I think this bug probably also applies to other installation/patching operations in zypper. So I would like to suggest an enhancement that the versions and repositories of the packages about to be installed are displayed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
