Try #3 -
Loaded openSUSE 10.3 KDE again as follows:
1. Machine is a GX110 with 320MB RAM. The boot drive is a Fujtisu SCSI in a
SPRAC 611 case connected through an Adaptec 2940UW2.
2. At Software set, I deleted:
a. AppArmor pattern
b. Desktop Effects pattern
c. Games
d. Searched for "beagle" and deleted everthing found.
3. At network setup, I disable IPv6.
4. At bluetooth setup, I disabled SDP, HCI and RFCOMM
5. I skipped the update during the setup phase.
6. Everything else was as defaulted.
When the system was running:
1. I adjusted my monitor using Yast.
2. I added cifs and piix to INITRD_MODULES, deleted ata_piix from
INITRD_MODULES and deleted xennit and xenblk from DOMU_INITRD_MODULES.
3. I installed the repositories and rebooted.
4. I rebooted.
5. I added two samba share mount points to fstab.
6. I updated the system using on-line update.
7. I rebooted.
8. I installed cifs-mount.
9. I rebooted.
10. The samba shares do not automount, but can be mounted with mount <mount
point>. The first share mounts correctly if it a read only share, hangs the
system if it a read-write share.
11. I rebooted.
12. I uninstalled cifs-mount, I changed fstab to list samba shares as
IPaddress/share name, commented out all read-write shares and changed the read
only share to noauto. I deleted cifs from INITRD_MODULES.
13. The system is usable, but marginal. The remaining samba share is defined
as:
//192.168.53.2/network /home/Network/Linux cifs
noauto,ro,guest,sec=none,uid=Dad,gid=users 0 0 in fstab.
