https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331583 Summary: Network Manager does not set up netmask properly Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rompi@post.cz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I have set up eth0 properties (ip, netmask, gate, ...) using Yast. When in 'ifup' mode, everything is OK, but since I have switched (again using Yast) into 'Network Manager' mode, I cannot ping anything outside my network. The reason is probably that according to ifconfig the eth0 netmask is not the one I have set up in Yast (in Yast I have written 255.255.255.192 but ifconfig shows 255.0.0.0). I have played with this for some time (just trying to enter various things in Yast...) and eventually the netmask was set correctly (I guess this was after setting the things and then restarting the whole system with the eth cable plugged - but perhaps this was just a coincidence). However, broadcast is still strange 255.255.255.255 (which I think should not be for ip/netmask 10.109.163.80/255.255.255.192). But at least I can ping outside my network. Then I have plugged in a wifi PCMCIA (Asus - rt2x00 module). It connects to my wifi network without problems but again - bad netmask 255.0.0.0 is shown for wlan0. In this time I was not able to make it work correctly at any rate. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
