Oops, sorry, I cut and pasted the link and forgot to update it. It should have
been: http://helgaas.com/linux/suse748616/bzImage3 and it should have a few new
printks around the _PS0 evaluation. I expect that if you boot it, we'll see
the one before ("acpi device:05: evaluating _PS0"), but not the one after
("acpi device:05: _PS0 status ...").
It looks like _PS0 does run a method (CAIN) with a loop that could conceivably
not terminate, but my ASL-fu is pretty weak. Rafael is going to have to jump
in here.
I wouldn't worry (yet) about the errors you get when recompiling your DSDT.
Linux used to work with that DSDT, and presumably Windows does, so we should be
able to get Linux to work again.
