https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=377530 Summary: NIC onboard mainboard not operational Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gemocker@aol.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Main Hardware Configuration: Mainboard Type ASROCK 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ Processor: Intel Pentium Dual Core Hardisk: 2 SATA Harddisk, Seagate, configured as RAID1 using onboard chipset 1 IDE Harddisk, Seagate CD-ROM: SATA Drive The onboard NIC from Realtek (RTL8111C or RTL8168B) on this mainboard could not be made operational, not with DHCP configuration, not with fixed IP configuration. With ifconfig -a no DHCP assigned IP adress is shown (if DHCP is used) and only a lot of packets dropped on the RX (or TX) buffer is listed. The same is true also after installation of the current driver from Realtek. The workarround for now is to use a separate older PCI NIC card, also from Realtek, which works as expected. Seems it is required to deactivate the onboard NIC to achieve proper operation of the PCI NIC and it also seems to be required to reboot Linux to get the network operational together with the Firefox browser. Under WindowsXP both NICs work fine. It would be required to find a solution, so that the additional NIC card can be again removed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
