Problem description:
By default, the firmware reserved space for loading the boot image (inst64) is
about 12Mb, but, in opensuse 11.0, the inst64 has about 16Mb of size. In order
to allow the loading of the boot image, it is necessary to change the real-base
value to the proper size. This is done, manually, by setting it via 'setenv'
line command:
0 > printenv real-base
-------------- Partition: common -------- Signature: 0x70 ---------------
real-base c00000 c00000
ok
0 > setenv real-base 1000000 ok

The idea is that, when reading the inst64 header, the openfirmware change its
real-base value to the proper size, allowing the boot process to proceed,
without user intervention.
Investigating the inst64 creation steps, We've discovered that the image 'size'
is set by a script called 'addnote', located at /lib/lilo/utils/ in the
opensuse
11.0 installation, called during the image creation. A priori, the solution
would be patching the addnote.c code, located at
<linux-kernel-src>/arch/powerpc/boot/addnote.c, (and some other scripts) to
allow passing variable values to set the inst64 'size' at creation time.
However, Olaf Hering (olh@suse.de) told us that this won't solve the problem.
Although, this problem is blocking the network installation process on opensuse
11.0, unless the real-base value is changed manually in the openfirmware
prompt.
