https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=244788 werner@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |suse@tlinx.org ------- Comment #1 from werner@novell.com 2007-02-13 09:32 MST ------- The shell started by the ssh on the remote system is not a login shell, therefore this piece of code is correct on the remote system, due it provides the full environment, e.g. path, on the remote system. This piece does nothing on the local system. Beside this the /etc/profile is written in the manner that it can also be sourced by non-interactive shells by testing on $PS1 and the terminal line if any. The last record is written by login or xdm/ksm/gdm or any other login program and never by /etc/profile (this would be a real bug IMHO) Please note that I will not remove this code. This because it solves a lot of trouble, e.g. user expecting that their applications on the remote system will be started out from the remote system path. At last but not least I'd like to know _why_ your personal profile is sourced twice on the remote system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
