https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=477644 Summary: 'rcmysql start' don't start mysql server if /var/lib/mysql/mysqld.pid exists and akonadi server is running Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: zrrr@bk.ru QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=273912) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=273912) commented console output of problem reproduction User-Agent: Opera/9.63 (X11; Linux i686; U; en) Presto/2.1.1 Akonadi is a KDE4 service for storing and processing PIM data, used by KDE4 PIM apps (kmail, kontact...). It uses his own instance of mysql server, launched when kde4 desktop starts. Problem is, that after mysql server started by init-script leaves pid-file (for example, when I reset my computer) I cannot start it again with 'rcmysql start'. 'rcmysql status' says, that server is running, but only mysqld process, shown by 'ps uax' is akonadi mysql server instance. If I stop akonadi (via systemsettings -> Akonadi configuration) or remove /var/lib/mysql/mysqld.pid file, 'rcmysq start' starts mysql server. Init-script, probably, is not checking, if pid in pid-file really belongs to mysql server. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Stop mysql server the way, it leaves pid-file (kill -9 works). 2. Check, if /var/lib/mysql/mysqld.pid exists and akonadi mysql server instance is running (in ps uaxw it looks like '/usr/sbin/mysqld --defaults-file=/home/eek/.local/share/akonadi//mysql.conf --datadir=/home/eek/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/ --socket=/home/eek/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/mysql.socket'). 3. Try 'rcmysql status' (it will say 'running') and 'rcmysql start'. 4. Check 'ps uaxw' output and observe no new mysql servers running. Actual Results: 'rcmysql start' displays 'done', 'rcmysql status' displays 'running', but mysql server is not started Expected Results: mysql server should start after 'rcmysql start' command.
