My problem is I can not browse shared directories. 1) If I open "smb:/" in Konqueror it is fine - I can see "Workgroup" workgroup. 2) If I click "Workgroup", address changes to "smb://workgroup/" and it's still fine - I can see three computers (including myself) in workgroup. 3) If I click "Toshiba" (or "Magda") which is machine with XP, I get connection error for address "smb://toshiba/" (or smb://magda/). However if I ask toshiba's owner for IP and then type it (smb://192.168.0.17/) then I can browse shared dirs on toshiba! The same happens for "magda" machine. So it seems that openSUSE has some problem about resolving machines names into IP. I found bug #104965, then opened 137, 138, 139 and 445 ports (UDP+TCP) in firewall but it doesn't help. I also found "smbtree" command which may give more info about issue: sony:~ # smbtree Password: WORKGROUP \\TOSHIBA cli_start_connection: failed to connect to TOSHIBA<20> (0.0.0.0). Error NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME \\SONY Samba 3.2.3-0.1-1882-SUSE-SL11.0 \\SONY\IPC$ IPC Service (Samba 3.2.3-0.1-1882-SUSE-SL11.0) \\SONY\shared shared \\MAGDA MAGDA cli_start_connection: failed to connect to MAGDA<20> (0.0.0.0). Error NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME As you can see smbtree can get shared dirs only on SONY which is my machine. Is there something I missed?
