As a remote worker from Berlin I can't help here. I have 20..30ms ping times to
NUE. I doubt that somebody would connect a monitor to the VGA connector of the
ppc64 box to watch a documentation video. It's much easier to use an x86_64
laptop. Our customers usually use the slowest remote Firefox method there is:
SSH + X11 forwarding and then they wonder why latest Firefox became so slow.
I prefer the SSH SOCKS5 proxy as all graphics are handled on the client machine
and only the traffic to the network behind the SSH gateway has to go through
the SSH tunnel - usually IPMI web interface access.
To test customer issues I use VNC. I get only 300 FPS with glxgears and VNC to
a ppc64 system in NUE. A SW renderer has the performance of a PC from the '90s.
So no chance for 2018 Youtube.
If I would have to stream video e.g. from a camera, then I would use an
embedded system with special H.264 encoder HW, use RTP/RTCP/RTSP, and play that
stream with a local media player like e.g. VLC.
