Sorry for the late answer.
So the /sys/../backlight/..
interface is working fine, but X (or X-apps) do not make use of it?
Can you try xrandr, please.
Possibly you can switch to a kernel controlled backlight mode.
xrandr --props # you should see what backlight/brightness controls you can
set
and
xrandr --set ... # Switch between kernel/legacy/whatever brightness control
Can you try this out, please.
Please everybody check that /sys/../backlight/.. interface works manually.
This bug is about a working kernel, but X seem to not make use of it.
If you do not have a working /sys/../backlight/.. interface, don't post here,
better open another bug report.
