The warning message is currently #4 on kerneloops.org. After analysing the
code, I'm not sure it is the cause of the problem you're seeing, though.
The warning message itself is caused by a bug in iwl* drivers
(http://intellinuxwireless.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1822). It happens
always after switching from one AP to another. From the logs, it is clear that
the card continues to work after the warning appears, at least for management
frames, which is also confirmed by other people who got the warning (e.g.
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg558248.html).
The warning should not affect stability of the computer or of the network
connection. If I'm not overlooking something the only problem it may cause is
slowing the connection down to 1 Mbps and/or flooding the dmesg log.
The actual loss of the connection probably happens shortly before the message
appears. It seems to be triggered by NetworkManager deciding to roam to another
AP. This succeeds, but after ~2 minutes NetworkManager decides to roam again,
and then again, etc.
The interesting thing is data frames are reaching the APs after all of the
roams (otherwise 4-way handshake wouldn't succeed). So I don't see why the
upper layers don't work nor when the problem really started.
If the 4-way handshake really succeeded. NetworkManager might as well
misinterpret messages from wpa_supplicant. Helmut, is there a way to get the
full output of wpa_supplicant started by NetworkManager?
