https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=656189 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=656189#c0 Summary: cannot change keyboard layout selection (only in KDE4 per user) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hochglanz@googlemail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de-DE; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-1.2 Firefox/3.6.12 I have a computer with a german keyboard and want to use a german keyboard layout (for all users on all Window Managers) In older days I said during installation that I'm using a german keyboard, but since openSUSE 11.2 it doesn't work any longer. 1. Sax2 doesn't have any longer a keyboard section and there is not any longer a xorg.conf file. Therefore the default keyboard layout is "us", correct? 2. So I must change the keyboard per user, correct? If yes, I think it's nonsense. I can do it in KDE4 system settings. 3. But the KDE4 system settings do not apply for example at XFCE Window Manager, so I must change the keyboard layout not only per user but per user an Window Manager - totally nonsense 4. Why is it not possible to change the keyboard layout in XFCE as it is shown in an oficial XFCE manual " http://www.xfce.org/about/tour?lang=en " The snapshot shows a tab in the keyboard settings which is not present in XFCE 4.6 on openSUSE 11.2 (using the XFCE repository). Is it not allowed to use a german keyboard layout in openSUSE's 11.2 XFCE? Any hints to solve the problem are appreciated Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use a german keyboard on XFCE 2. 3. Actual Results: well, US keyboard Expected Results: well, german keyboard -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
