--- Comment #10 from Jan Uhlir 2012-05-02 21:00:46 UTC ---
So I upgraded back to latest kernel - 3.1.10-1.9.
Downgraded KDE back to 4.7 from official repository (have to note, it was not
so easy task, there ware several steps needed, lots manual checking etc. I
would welcome some meta-package for full downgrade)
Anyway. Situation is that, even with 3.1.10-1.9. system managed to succeed with
power down, but the session must be very short, just log in, let KDE fully
load, and then trigger shut down. Power down succeeds.
But after a normal working session - power down always fails.
It is a kernel issue, but not a straightforward one, there is something
triggering it. I am looking for that something causing
I have one suspect - Macromedia Flash.
If I open some simple page in Firefox, and then shut down, power down succeeds.
If I open some complex page in Firefox, containing Flash content, like my Yahoo
email account, and then shut down, power down fails.
espinosa@espinosadell:~> rpm -qa | grep -i flash
flash-player-11.1.102.63-9.1.i586
pullin-flash-player-12.1-9.1.i586
flash-player-kde4-11.1.102.63-9.1.i586
One more hint.
I had to downgrade flash, because newer versions, > 11.1, cause "blue" videos
in YouTube. It is reported and known bug. I spot the issue with powering off
appeared shortly after that.
