This morning, I installed the kernel upgrade to 2.6.22.16-0.1. As in case 354931, following the upgrade menu.lst contained invalid root=() specifications: root (L/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Hitachi_HTS5425071203BB0200WBHG6B0C-part6) Note the "L/dev". The extraneous "L" also appears in the kernel parameters: kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22.16-0.1-default root=L/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Hitachi_HTS5425071203BB0200WBHG6B0C-part6 vga=0x317 resume=/dev/sda5 splash=silent showopts A few minutes with the installation DVD in rescue mode corrected the problem. I will attach the mangled menu.lst along with menu.lst.old and the y2logs.
