DO NOT: leave software as proposed (no additional selection), you will not be able to start mysql service, see Bug 846422 5. DO THIS: select all yast software, this will install "System Services (Runlevel)" 6. wait for reboot 7. yast, software management, search mariadb, install 8. yast, System Services (Runlevel), start mysql 9. reboot, console: mysql .... it will start, this was just to verify 10. now we will change the config file to a proposed configuration cp -f /usr/share/mysql/my-huge.cnf /etc/my.cnf 11. reboot, console: mysql ... it will crash 12. in the just replaced file /etc/my.cnf change the line !includedir /etc/mysql 13. to this line !includedir /etc/my.cnf.d 14. reboot, console: mysql .... it will start Actual Results: It works with these additional steps Expected Results: clean alternative mysql config files, (all other versions have the same problem) and not to forget: either: mysql in services manager (Bug 846422) or: when installing MariaDB then the software management loads also the tool for starting it: "System Services (Runlevel)" -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
