I don't know if this is relevant, but I used to notice that immediately after
unlocking the screen gnome-shell would disappear and come back on, as if it
were restarting (like what it does when you type 'r' and hit enter on the
Alt+F2 prompt) on openSUSE 12.1 as well (on both a radeon and an intel
machine). I did not think much of it then, because gnome-shell invariable
restarted and everything got back together. On 12.2, gnome-shell still
disappears similarly after unlocking/suspension, but it never does restart.
