The patch is only required when using a TMDS output (which is also the reason,
why I didn't see the problem with VGA output). I never have seen a regular
mainboard with Intel onboard graphics with TMDS. I have one, but this is a
preproduction machine. Yes, there are ADD2 cards for the PCIe slot with TMDS
output, but who knows about them? Some laptops with Intel graphics also might
have TMDS output, but AFAIK these are rather rare.
I don't know how hard it is to add setting of "PreferredMode" to the dynamics
intel profile and if we can get a SaX2 update for this.
BTW, there's a cute workaround for this issue for you. Just set
DISPLAYMANAGER_RANDR_MODE_TMDS-1 in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager accordingly.
Rather tricky I know.
