The project name is more like a unique resource identifier, allowing spaces
there (in fact, allowing any non-word-characters) makes things more difficult
in various places. You can use the title field for free text including any
fancy chars you like.
Also, the space encoding using the '+' character isn't valid in any part of an
URI other than in the query string. That's why you get the
project_name_mismatch error.
Web client giving you no useful error message is something to be fixed, thats
true.
