http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558475 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558475#c0 Summary: rpmbuild -tp frequently fails to read spec file from tar ball compressed with bzip2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: stille@uni-freiburg.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=329527) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=329527) sample tar ball compressed with bzip2 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 SUSE/3.5.4-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.4 Running rpmbuild with options -tp or -ta frequently fails to read a spec file from a tar ball compressed with bzip2. The frequency seems to increase when using fast, multi-core processors and when using larger tar balls. The problem does not occur when the tar balls are compressed with gzip. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a bash script file named "test_rebuild" containing: #!/bin/sh if [ $# -ne 1 ]; then echo "usage: test_rpmbuild path_to_tar_ball" exit fi i=1 n=0 while [ $i -le 100 ]; do rpmbuild -tp $1 if [ $? -gt 0 ]; then n=$[$n+1] fi i=$[$i+1] done echo "Errors: "$n" %" 2. Run it on the attached sample tar ball (or on another suitable file) by entering test_rpmbuild path_to_tar_ball 3. Note the finally printed percentage of errors (numbers off errors occuring in the loop of 100 calls to rpmbuild) Actual Results: On my system (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz) I get an error frequency of about 20 %. Expected Results: Of course it should result in an error frequency of 0. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
