50-nvidia.conf
The attached file 50-nvidia.conf fixes the regression, that on systems where
NVIDIA's X driver *is* also running, CUDA programs didn't work any longer for
non-root users (regression came with the introduction of uvm module).
Copy it to /etc/modprobe.d. It makes sure that nvidia_uvm is loaded once nvidia
module is loaded and the devices with the right permissions are created, i.e.
for group video.
It does not help on systems, where X isn't running. On these systems, I only
see the solution to load nvidia-uvm and create the appopriate devices during a
init script on boot. But this issue we had before. It's not considered a
regression.
