802.11 development moves fast and this is specially true for the ath9k_htc
driver which has open firmware and an active community. OpenSUSE ships with the
3.11 kernel release which is ancient in terms of development. Using
distribution kernels and using distribution bug reports is not the best way to
engage with the 802.11 development community. Long term OpenSUSE should carry
backports and if it doesn't then it users are encouraged to pick the latest
backports release from:
http://drvbp1.linux-foundation.org/~mcgrof/rel-html/backports/
To help troubleshoot this issue you should try first the latest backports
release based on the latest stable kernel:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/stable/v3.13.2/bac...
I am using OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and I believe that ships the 3.13 kernel, so
that's another option. If either moving to Tumbleweed *or* using the 13.13
backports release doesn't fix your issue you should then try the latest
backports release which will be based on linux-next, the latest one is:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2014/02/21/backpor...
If you run into issues you can report the issues directly to the public
mailing lists, the firmware was opened up to let the community help with
addressing issues.
