https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=369539 Summary: Hal 20080305 breaks NetworkManager Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 2plus Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: zoz@novell.com ReportedBy: gp@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Product Management Created an attachment (id=200516) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=200516) /var/log/NetworkManager Upgrading to the current "consistent" tree it turns out that HAL 20080305 breaks NetworkManager. Plain Alpha2Plus worked (at least for wired connections), whereas after the update no network connection came up at all while I was using NetworkManager. Going back to manual mode (ifup/ifdown in YaST) brought the network up without problems. Downgrading HAL back to what we had in Alpha2Plus (only the main HAL package, nothing else) made NetworkManager work again. I have a suspicion that the following entries from /var/log/NetworkManager may be related which I stopped seeing after the version downgrade: Mar 12 00:50:25 sharm NetworkManager: nm_device_802_3_ethernet_new: assertion `driver != NULL' failed Mar 12 00:50:25 sharm NetworkManager: nm_device_802_11_wireless_new: assertion `driver != NULL' failed I'm going to attach the full /var/log/NetworkManager file which has both the failing attempts and those when it worked again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
