https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=343734 Summary: latest fglrx driver freezes my system (Radeon 9800 Pro) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: funtasyspace@yahoo.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- I just installed the latest 8.43.3 fglrx driver from the 'ATI Repository' for openSUSE 10.3 (x86_64). I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (R350) video card. I can start up SAX2 and configure things as usual. On exiting SAX2 and hitting the 'Test Configuration' button, I can see the background being drawn, but in this moment my machine freezes completely. I can't login via SSH anymore, only a hard reset helps. I tried many different resolutions and settings in the SAX setup, but it doesn't matter... it freezes as soon as I click the 'Test Configuration' button. Only when I use the automatic default configuration by hitting the 'OK' button instead of 'Change Configuration' in the first SAX2 dialog, I'll get a working Xserver in runlevel 5. But this way I can't setup the resolution and my CRT Monitor Model + Settings. One thing I noticed is that the fglrx packages in the ATI Repository seem to be build against Kernel 2.6.22.13 whereas the most resent kernel for openSUSE 10.3 seems to be version 2.6.22.12. Calling /usr/bin/fglrx-kernel-build.sh fails with the error: line 30: pushd: /usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx: File or Directory not found So I guess there's something seriously wrong with those fglrx packages in the 'ATI Repository'. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
