https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=765294 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=765294#c0 Summary: ldconfig cache weirdness breaks gnome on nvidia Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Beta 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: aj@suse.com ReportedBy: dmacvicar@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: coolo@suse.com, matz@suse.com, rguenther@suse.com Found By: Development Blocker: --- nvidia package installs /etc/ld.so.conf.d/nvidia-gfxG02.conf so that the proprietary libGL is used instead cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/nvidia-gfxG02.conf /usr/X11R6/lib64 /usr/X11R6/lib However, ldd still takes libGL from /usr/lib64 and ld.so.cache has /usr/lib64/libGL first (if the order of ldconfig -P is relevant), even if the configuration specifies the opposite (comments from ld.so.conf says /usr/lib64 is appended at the end of all the included files). If gnome takes the Mesa libGL, it hangs on startup. If it can't find any, it would go to fallback mode. At the end, taking the library from /usr/lib64 away, makes it work, and gnome starts correctly. Note that gnome-shell has an RPATH, which includes /usr/lib64, but taking it away does not seems to have any effect on the described bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
