Regarding "systemd generator to create cups.socket that matches cupsd.conf"
see bnc#861084.
Currently I don't know anything at all about systemd generator.
I would very much appreciate any help.
FWIW
regarding "grandma" versus "network administrator":
Guess who in the end pays my salary
(who pays the piper calls the tune)
;-)
Seriously:
First and foremost I want to get cupsd working again as it did all the time
by a single simple and secure cups.service unit file.
This would even keep grandma happy because printing would still "just work"
for her as it did all the time in the past.
When cupsd again "just works" as it did all the time in the past,
then the next step is an optional(!) systemd generator to create
cups.socket that matches cupsd.conf - bnc#861084.
Regarding cups.path:
If my guess what this does (start cupsd when /var/spool/cups/d* exists)
is true it may result another nightmare for admins because there
could be intentionally old /var/spool/cups/d* files either because
of a disabled print queue or because the admin has set PreserveJobFiles
in cupsd.conf but the admin has cupsd disabled and does not expect
any kind of automated cupsd restart (also not after a reboot).
