Hi Folks,
This is still present in the final release of 11.3.
As far as I can make out, the little 8x8 icon in the bottow-left corner of the
knetworkmanager icon (itself a 32x32 icon called "network-wireless-n.png" I
think, where n = 0, 25, 50, 75 or 100) changes from "emblem-link.png" when
connecting to "emblem-mounted.png" when connected.
In 11.2, the little 8x8 icon in the bottow-left corner changes from
"emblem-mounted.png" when connecting to a small green tick that I can't
identify when connected.
I agree with David Kerkhof though, at this size "emblem-link.png" and
"emblem-mounted.png" look almost identical and it is difficult to determine if
the computer is connecting to the wireless AP or has already connected to it
therefore I recommend using a pair of icons distinct from each other.
