From me, it would not be an unconditional "wontfix" here but an "invalid" as

the
reporter did not provide any logs (Xorg.0.log from the crash) nor any other
information like the nVidia card used.
I take it from my crystal ball that the reporter must have been trying nouveau
with an G80 generation card or newer, with those, you are expected to get
exactly
the described result.
I'll try to add a patch which checks for G80 or G92 generation cards and gives
an error message instead of attempting to start.
Thanks for the bug report, it was useful for making it nonetheless despite I
had to use my crystall ball...
If my crystall ball was wrong, please reopen and provide information which card
you have been trying nouveau with.
If your card was indeed an G80 or G92 generation card (Geforce 5x/8x/9x), don't
report it to freedesktop.org either, likely the Voodoo and/or Ctx for your card
is missing, so if you want to help, you can provide the lspci output (that
would be enough) for your card and if it's a G84 or G86, there might be Voodoos
which
might work for you and in theory I you could use that, but would you be fine
without any form of RENDER, 3D, and Xv acceleration?
Alternativelty, add
Option "ShadowFB" "on"
to your xorg.conf, but not even that would fix your text consoles after having
started nouveau, that is as of now only fixable if you help reverse enigneering
nVidia G80 modesetting because the part of Text console restore is still a
mystery.
