What happens if you stop HAL (rchal stop), insert the USB-disk or iPod.
Nothing.My external hdd wasn't mounted.
Is the df call blocked?
I wouldn't say.It didn't seem blocked.I'm not exactly sure, what you mean "blocked".Frozen?
What happen if you mount the device now by hand and call then df? Blocked?
I had to wait for a while (aprox.30 sec) on output.
Is there anythink in /var/log/messages after attach the disk?
