https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=417492 Summary: LVM based system can not boot after install Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: eike.welk@post.rwth-aachen.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- The installation DVD sometimes creates a system that can not boot. I tried to install openSuse 11.0 with an installation DVD. I chose a system that uses LVM, but I changed the partitioning. After the installation the system completed to boot and seemed fine. But when I tried to reboot the system the boot process stopped directly after the BIOS messages. The screen was empty, and only showed a single underscore in the upper left corner. (I write this from memory, sorry for any inaccurate observations.) I suspect that GRUB was broken. The system could be repaired with the installation DVD.
