posting from a Windows box at wr0k, so I don't know offhand what X11 version
I'm using and can't check until tonight.
Digging into logs before I left for wr0k this morning, I found errors stating
the xserver couldn't find an fglrx module. No idea why it's looking for one, as
my video card uses the radeon driver and fglrx isn't even installed. For that
matter, nothing in xorg.conf.d even refers to fglrx.
Yesterday, before I shut down the computer for the night, everything was
working fine. The only thing I changed on the system yesterday was to uninstall
jedit (no longer using it) and to enable the atd service. Uninstalling a text
editor shouldn't make X blow up, so tonight, my first thing to try is stopping
and disabling atd. If that fixes it, I then get to dig into atd and figure out
what about it could possibly make X crash.
