http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=589713 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=589713#c0 Summary: Silent Kernel Hangup on Xeon X5660 6 core CPU Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: martin.mohring@5etech.eu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux) KHTML/3.5.10 (like Gecko) SUSE Have 6 core / 12 threads Xeon processor. Machine is a dual socket server. * Machine boots with openSUSE 11.2 32 bit kernel and showing all 24 threads * Machine hangs up with openSUSE 11.2 64 bit kernel. When I put in acpi=off, then machine boots but of course hyperthreading is then off * openSUSE 11.1 32 and 64 bit kernels do also work earlyprintk kernel boot option reports nothing. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert openSUSE 11.2 64 Bit DVD 2. Activate Hyperthreading and all CPUs in the BIOS 3. Boot DVD (not in Failsave mode) Actual Results: I could reduce the problem to acpi=on (hangup) / acpi=off (works, no hypthreads active) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
