To clarify :-
In kde I click the install icon and the license agreement screen is displayed,
I check the checkbox and click next, then the timezone setup screen is
displayed with USA New York preselected and at this point the utc box is
unchecked and I have noted that the time in the kde clock has been set 2 hours
back from SAST (GMT +2) to GMT already and the time displayed in the timezone
settings window is GMT -5 which is correct for New York timezone, next I select
Johannesburg (SAST GMT +2) the region is displayed as Africa and timezone
Johannesburg although the time in the timezone setup window is still on New
York time gmt -5, I now click the next button and get the partitioning setup
window and then click abort.
This time (I am doing the setup on the vista box with the live cd as I am
writing this) after clicking the abort button, the time on kde clock remained
on GMT but after a short period the time on kde clock is reset, probably by ntp
to GMT -5.
So the bug is :-
a) The system time is set to GMT on timezone setup window.
b) The Johannesburg time zone setting is not honoured.
c) When I click abort the system time is not returned to its normal state and
the cmos clock is left with incorrect time.
I haven't been able to reproduce this on my own computer for some reason and I
will try to find out why after I have found the logs and (I hope either ntfs
write or usb stick works) transfered them to my box to upload.
I use an intel ICH7 based MSI-7507 MB and vista box is foxcon amd 64.
