Most noticeable, this results in file systems not being unmounted during halt. The problem is caused by: First, /etc/init.d/rc sets COLD_BOOT to "no". Later, the following test in /etc/init.d/halt skips all boot.* scripts: <snip> if test -z "$COLD_BOOT" ; then </snip> Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot into multi-user mode, e.g. runlevel 5 2. init 1 3. halt Actual Results: no /etc/init.d/boot.* scripts are called.
