https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=433996 Summary: No support for device thermal Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jjgomez@sip.ucm.es QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer The machine is a hp pavillion tx2550es tablet pc with AMD Ultra Turion-X2 When I execute "acpi -t" it provides information about the battery but not about temperature. It says "no support for device type: thermal". Nevertheless, the lsmod shows a line processor 65976 2 powernow_k8,thermal Is thermal working or it is just a wrong error message? Perhaps fan control is related to this problem. The kpowersave seems to capture well the frequence of both processors, though I am not sure fan control is perfect. I can ensure that whenever the processor throttled up, the fan speed increased as well, but I am afraid it was the bios. I disabled "fan always active" from the bios and now the machine is less noisy. However I have turned it on again to prevent overheating, since this machine is known to generate quite a lot of heat. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
