OK. It still does not work with with no_subtree_check and 0750. I've removed
the rw and no_subtree_check from the server and client because they are
defaults and as you say are irrelevant on the client.
Here is the full config:
SERVER:
ls -l /home2
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Aug 28 17:50 home
drwxr-x--- 3 root staff 4096 Aug 28 17:52 staff
hh1:/home2/home # ls -l
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 steve2 Domain Users 4096 Aug 29 12:41 steve2
hh1:/home2/staff # ls -l
total 4
drwxr-xr-x 2 s10 Domain Users 4096 Aug 29 12:44 s10
cat /etc/exports
#/home2 *(rw,sec=sys:krb5)
/home2/home *(sec=sys:krb5,insecure)
/home2/staff *(sec=sys:krb5,insecure)
CLIENT
etc/auto.master
/home2/home /etc/auto.home
/home2/staff /etc/auto.staff
/etc/auto.home
* -sec=krb5 hh1:/home2/home/&
/etc/
* -sec=krb5 hh1:/home2/staff/&
here is steve2 successfully logging in and mounting his home directory via
autofs:
steve@hh10:~> su steve2
Password:
steve2@hh10:/home/steve> cd ~
steve2@hh10:~> id
uid=3000007(steve2) gid=20513(Domain Users) groups=20513(Domain Users)
steve2@hh10:~> ls -l
total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 steve2 Domain Users 24 Aug 29 12:42 k
-rwxr--r-- 1 steve2 Domain Users 0 Aug 29 12:41 New Text Document.txt
steve2@hh10:~>
Here is s10 logging in OK but then autofs failing to mount his home directory:
s10@hh10:/home/steve> cd ~
bash: cd: /home2/staff/s10: No such file or directory
s10@hh10:/home/steve> id
uid=3000009(s10) gid=20513(Domain Users) groups=20513(Domain
Users),21109(staff)
s10@hh10:/home/steve>
So the question remains I'm afraid. Why will NFS4 not mount a 0750 directory?(
In reply to comment #12)
For some reason I thought you were changing the permissions on the client side,
not the on server. That made everything more mysterious :)
No. I only changed permissions on the server. Before autofs starts, there is no
/home2 on the client, apart from for your tests for Comment #11
