I've never seen that again. Maybe this is fixed meanwhile. Accordingly to the
spec file list, also gnome does require for its scheduler cronie:
man/man.spec:Requires: cronie
gnome-schedule/gnome-schedule.spec:BuildRequires: cronie
gnome-schedule.spec:Requires: cronie
Beside this
rpm -qR cron
/bin/sh
cronie = 1.4.11-57.5
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1
rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
rpmlib(PayloadIsLzma) <= 4.4.6-1
which looks like cron is more like a dummy package:
cat /usr/share/doc/packages/cron/cron_to_cronie.README
package cron 4.2 is only auxiliary package needed for proper renaming package
cron to cronie
