Contents of memory sticks change over time. While looking whether the problem
is still current, I also realized that the evince-thumbnailer process (most
likely responsible for creating thumbnails for PDF files) takes a lot of CPU
time (>95%) and is quite slow. Not that I have that many PDF files on the stick
however:

It also seems that evince-thumbnailer is using GhostScript to generate
thumbnails of PostScript files. That's really not performant. There's one
