I am curious, how come beagle-firefox is installed but beagle is not running ?
I would assume anyone installing the firefox extension did it with the intent
of using it for beagle and hence beagled would be running.
Hmm... I guess the above assumption is not valid for live-cds anymore. But does
it make sense to use beagle for live-cds ? Most live-cd users use the live-cd
for testing and the index is not saved past reboot. If you want a single medium
for live-cd and installation, I am sure you have a way to install a package in
the hard-disk but not install it in the live-cd image.
Any other suggestions on what can be done ? Upstream does not want the
extension to create .beagle if it does not exist since it is a sufficient test
if beagle is not being used. The extension does not want to keep saving the
viewed webpages and waste diskspace if beagle is not being used.
We, upstream, can either silence the alert box and continue as of now or
provide an option to the user to disable the extension (not the cross icon on
the beagle icon in firefox status bar but completely disable it). But again,
this is a behaviour ok for hard-drive installs but will definitely be annoying
in a live-cd.
