This failed, and logs included the messages: sendsize[19534]: time 2.006: getting size via dump for /home level 0 sendsize[19534]: time 2.007: calculating for device /dev/mapper/VolGroupA-home with ext3 sendsize[19534]: time 2.007: running "/sbin/dump 0Ssf 1048576 - /dev/mapper/VolGroupA-home" sendsize[19518]: time 2.034: waiting for any estimate child: 1 running sendsize[19534]: time 2.058: running /usr/lib/amanda/killpgrp sendsize[19534]: time 2.128: DUMP: Cannot open /dev/mapper/VolGroupA-home sendsize[19534]: time 2.129: DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted. The problem is that the LVM devices in /dev/mapper are not readable by group disk (unlike the /dev/sd* devices).
