OK, I'm a bit lost here with what you've done and why you closed this, guys.
I run 11.0. I had hotkey-setup installed and volume buttons working. I think
a recent update somehow killed that. So I went searching for it again.
zypper showed it available (from packman) so I did 'zypper in hotkey-setup'.
zypper said "nothing to do". Never did figure out why.
I went searching. hotkey-setup was not available from either the OSS repo or
the Update repo. How is this fixed (for 11.0) if it is not available from
openSuSE, nor is it a "required" package (I would have made it a Req. for any
laptop-only packages).
So here's the situation for our users now: Laptop buttons don't work for
sound, etc.; no package is installable from YaST to make them work; This bug
entry is extremely hard to find unless you know EXACTLY what the problem is
beforehand.
Can we just put out an update to kbd rpm that has hotkey-setup as a req. (and
put hotkey-setup rpm into the repo)? That way the fix gets out there and we
aren't requiring newbies to learn the intricacies of HAL events, etc. or gain
the sudden ability to search our bug list like a master?
I REALLY REALLY want to re-open this bug, but I know that I am not perfect and
may have overlooked or misunderstood something, so I will wait until somebody
lets me know whats going on.
