IMHO one major problem of plymouth and how it is used with 13.1 is that
plymouthd blocks and locks the devices used for the system consoles and this
block/lock is not removed before the agetty and the Xserver started by the X11
display managers like KDM. The locks are: the termios structure as well as the
ioctls to switch to an other virtual console. The last lock could be the
problem of this bug.
Any changes which cause that plymouthd is running even if the agetties and the
X11 display managers are started, has to be removed. To make it clear: I'm not
interested in having a smooth transition from the plymouthd boot screen into
the X11 final screen but having a stable system.
@ Frederic : Please tell us what changes had been done in plymouth and systemd
for this smooth transition?
