--- Comment #6 from Per Jessen
Debugging information as described in "Trouble-Shooting (Debugging)" is not needed because comment#3 shows the actual issue: -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does "scanimage -L" show your HP 2400 Scanjet scanner? Run it both as root and as normal user.
As a normal user, it doesn't show. As root: office11:~ # scanimage -L device `genesys:libusb:003:002' is a Hewlett Packard ScanJet 2400c flatbed scanner -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This means it is a "USB scanner access permissions via udev" issue as described at http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_Scanners where also a "workaround to get those kind of issues out of sight" is described.
Per Jessen, at least for now set up those workaround. Then scanning should work also for normal users.
Thanks Johannes - I think I'll just stick to using opensuse 12.3, where this works without problems. I just thought it was good idea to test 13.1b1 now that I had to install a new office desktop anyway.
Regarding further analysis to find the root cause: I am afraid, I cannot help regarding any kind of udev issues. Someone with sufficient udev knowledge should have a look here.
I guess the bnc-screening guys will take care of that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
