Comment 68: Andreas, there are wonderful console audio players: I do personally
prefer cmus (:a ~/Musik, press 5 for directory view, 4 for playlist,
Return/[E]nqueue on titles and [C] to continue playing the 4list) while; use +-
in cmus or alsamixer for noise level ctrl. mp3blaster would be another option.
Your Xorg problem may be related to:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32393 ?
Besides this there are usually plenty of options to get Xorg to work: use
different drivers: radeon, radeonhd, fglrx (proprietary) for ATI cards and
nouveau, nv(elder cards), nvidiagfxNN (NN~age of card,: proprietary via ), see
also: build.os.org/search. vesafb should always work since vesa refers to the
VESA BIOS (a standard); Xorg -configure/ editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf may be of
help. Most times just disabling 3D accelaration by 'Option "DRI" "off"' in the
Device section will help; afaik there was also an X project using framebuffers
different from Xorg. (It is really a pity that SaX2 is no more supported; I
believe it would really help many users: bug 539004. I still have my xorg.confs
backuped from this time.)
