--- Comment #16 from Juergen Weigert 2012-11-29 18:41:12 UTC ---
Please comment if this is correct, if so my vote is 'saxon9 provides saxon':
Only one of the two saxon6 or saxon9 should provide saxon.
If saxon6 provides saxon, it should also have /usr/bin/saxon.
If saxon9 provides saxon, it should also have /usr/bin/saxon.
Both 9 and 6 are installable simultaneously.
Ludwig suggests that saxon should point to saxon9, which is the latest and
greatest.
But the upgrade path from 6 to 9 is not smooth. One speaks XSLT-1.0 the other
speaks XSLT-2.0 and is not backwards compatible.
If there are "many" packages that assume XSLT-1.0 when requiring saxon without
a version number, we should keep the symbol saxon with saxon6.
From the sr#'s Michal did above, it looks like that most packages actually work
with saxon9 now, so Ludwig's approach appears fine. The remaining pakages(*)
are few and can be changed to explicitly require saxon6.
(*) Which packages fail with saxon9? xep. epubcheck? Any other?
