Sorry for not replying earlier. I now have a test machine available with 256 MB
physical RAM (I have attached hwinfo from my PC).
I have just installed a 10.2 from CD both with GUI and textmode without any
problems (installing a minimum system finished in less than one hour).
Therefore I assume your problems aren't directly related to shortage of
physical RAM and aren't related to text mode install. There must be another
reason for making the installation so slow (or impossible).
Did you also install from CD? Have you noticed any kernel error messages on
console 3/4 (switch to it with Ctrl Alt F3/F4)? If you did a network
installation: did you notice network problems? Maybe the swap space isn't
actived correctly during installation (error messages?).
But without more detailed information ('hwinfo', y2log files, kernel messages
on console, /var/log/messages) we cannot find the reason for the problem.
Could you please try again with 10.3? If the problem with 10.2 is kernel
related it could be solved with new kernel and 10.3 also needs less memory (in
case the problem was somehow related to memory shortage).
I will set the bug to wonttfix. Please reopen again if the problem still exists
with 10.3.
